Magna Carta 800
Watch out for the giant puppets in July 2015 as they feature in the 800th year celebrations of the sealing of the Magna Carta at venues across the borough.
To celebrate the 800th anniversary of the sealing of Magna Carta at Runnymede there will be a national celebration event at Runnymede Meadows on Monday 15 June between 9am and 1pm.
At the event invited guests will commemorate the anniversary in the presence of HM The Queen, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, The Duke of Cambridge, The Princess Royal, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence and other dignitaries from the UK and around the world.
As part of the celebrations, a major new art installation will be unveiled on the meadow, there will be musical and spoken word performances.
Everyone is welcome to watch the ceremony on large TV screens on the meadow near the National Trust lodges at Runnymede - but please bear in mind that the usual access routes to Runnymede Meadows will be extremely restricted throughout the day on Monday 15 June. Last year students from our school working with some of our primary schools and professional artists created a series of giant puppets.
These puppets were used at a public event last July, at the Magna Carta memorial, to celebrate the sealing of the 'Great Charta'.
