Art is a language that all people speak that cuts across racial, cultural, social, educational, and economic barriers and enhances cultural appreciation and awareness.
Art is part of everything we do; it is everywhere we look. To study Art provides opportunities for self-expression, bringing the inner world into the outer world of concrete reality. It exercises and develops higher order thinking skills including analysis, synthesis, evaluation, and "problem solving."
Art is something that every student can participate in. Pablo Picasso said "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up." Albert Einstein said "Creativity is contagious, pass it on." These are thoughts which we hope to keep in mind in the Art department.
We touch on most areas of art and design at The Magna Carta School, including ceramics, printing, photography, sculpture, painting, and craftsmanship, as well as encouraging students to visit galleries and exhibitions.
